When Your Doctor Says: Breast Cancer
David A. Cooke., M.D., editorDescription
When Your Doctor Says: Breast Cancer discusses what a patient should expect and what should be the next steps to take if a diagnosis of breast cancer has just been received. The book explains the different types and stages of breast cancer and shows, given the patient's diagnosis, the appropriate treatment choices. The book is written by a health professional, and is a resource for patients who are looking for answers to questions they might not have thought to ask their doctor, or who are looking for more clarity regarding explanations their doctor may have already given.
Treatment options, including different kinds of surgery, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, and chemotherapy, are discussed. Suggestions for coping with the side effects of commonly used breast cancer treatments are included. The book also features facts about follow-up care, planning for the future, and the prevention of cancer recurrence.
The book is fully indexed, and provides directories of resources for additional information and support.
